Designed by world renowned architectural studio Renzo Piano Building Workshop (RPBW), The News Building (aka London Bridge Place) is located on the south bank of the River Thames, alongside The Shard and Shard Place and, along with these buildings, it completes the complex transformation of London Bridge Quarter. The groundbreaking building - a ‘sister’ structure to The Shard - provides around 40,000 sqm (430,000 sq ft) of modern, efficient commercial space distributed over 17 levels and hosting the international headquarters for News UK.
The project includes landscaped roof terraces offering spectacular views of London as well as naturally ventilated winter gardens on various floors. At the same time the building can boast a series of superior environmental features such as an interactive wall system - made up of 20,100 sqm (216,400 sq ft) of double skin façade guaranteeing highest level of thermal and acoustic insulation along with plenty of natural light and outstanding views throughout - photovoltaic panels on the roof and a combined heating and power plant. In 2014 the project was awarded Global Best Office Project by the ENR (Engineering News-Record) while in 2015 The News Building achieved an ‘Excellent’ BREEAM rating.
