Stratford Cross

London, UK

We are proud to have made a major contribution to the redevelopment of the Stratford Cross area (formerly known as International Quarter) in the East End of London – using our Closed Cavity Façade system to provide façades for four landmark buildings.

Development of the mixed-use neighbourhood began in 2014. Scheldebouw has provided façades for buildings S5, S6, S9 and most recently S4 – also known as the Turing Building. All four are commercial office spaces that have been designed to create working communities within sustainable, comfortable interactive environments.

Brand: Scheldebouw

Architects: Arney Fender Katsalidis (S4), Roger Stirk Harbour + Partners (S5, S6, S9)

Contractor: Lendlease

Developer: IQL Office LP (S4), Stratford City Business Development (S5, S6, S9)

The project

The concept

The key design objective for all four buildings was to provide a variety of workspaces that could adapt to constantly evolving demands. Providing the best possible working environment for occupants was a priority, in terms of experience, views, light, environmental conditions and health.

What did we do?

For each building, our team designed, manufactured and installed a bespoke Closed Cavity Façade (CCF) system that played a crucial role in helping to achieve impressive CO2 reduction targets. Additional unitised façade elements supplied included single-glazed units, double-glazed panels, and an atrium façade.
