When the 43-storey tower of One Bishopsgate Plaza opened in 2021, it was London’s first high-rise residential and hospitality development for several years.

The striking building accommodates high-end retail stores, places to eat, a luxury 5-star hotel, private residential apartments and a wellbeing floor. It also contains a welcoming public space lined with shops and cafes.

The project

The concept

The 135 m high tower’s sophisticated form steps as it rises – with the square floorplate of the bottom part cutting away to leave a triangular pattern for the uppermost floors. The site also contains an extended and refurbished Victorian building.

What did we do?

We designed, engineered, manufactured and installed the façade for the main tower and pavilion – a full transparent box featuring structural fins. This included 20,000 sqm of unitised curtain wall and 11,000 sqm of brise soleil.
