8 Bishopsgate

London, UK

8 Bishopsgate, named Best Tall Building (200–299m) at the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) Awards 2024, is an iconic addition to the London skyline.

The tower was the first in the UK to target – and achieve – BREEAM Outstanding and EPC A rating. Scheldebouw’s façade, which uses Closed Cavity Façade (CCF) technology, contributed to meeting the building’s high sustainability and performance requirements and we were proud to achieve an Environmental Project Declaration (EPD) for the bespoke façade.

The project

The concept

Designed by WilkinsonEyre, the 50-storey mixed-use office building includes flexible retail space on the lower levels and a public viewing gallery on level 50. The project consists of four stacked blocks with a total height of around 200m.

What did we do?

We designed, engineered, manufactured and installed a total of 37,750 sqm of unitised façade and 700 sqm of stick system. The cladding of the two main blocks consists mainly of a Closed Cavity Façade (CCF) system and single-skin core cladding.
